This group of vessels, which was made around 200 years after the Philistines settled in Canaan, illustrates the process of assimilation into their immediate surroundings. The red color as well as their shape stem from Canaanite culture. Elements of the original Philistine culture can still be seen in the ornamental black stripes and in the arrangement of the horizontal handles, but these features also disappeared in the following centuries until no trace remained.
