This group of vessels, from the Mycenaean and Cypriot cultures, was imported to Canaan between the 15th and 13th centuries BCE. At the end of the 13th century, cities in the Aegean region were destroyed and abandoned, and the import of vessels to Canaan came to an end. If you look at the three displays in front of you, you will see how Philistine vessels were influenced by the Aegean culture they came from, as well as by the cultures they settled among. The influences of the surrounding cultures affected every facet of Philistine culture, as we shall see in the coming exhibits.
