The print in front of you is based on a stone inscription dating from the 7th century BCE, which was found in a Philistine temple in Ekron. On the inscription, Achish, son of Pedi, king of the city, dedicates the temple to the goddess Pitogaya. The names of the kings are also cited in the Bible. The first one cited is the King of Gat, the city to which David fled when he fled from Saul, and the second the King of Ekron, who was captured by King Hezekiah. Pitogaya is the name of the Aegean goddess mother who nurtures all life. 600 years after their arrival in Canaan, the Philistines were writing in the local Phoenician script, but they did not abandon the Aegean goddess.
